Domofocus Bioethanol Fireplace
Designer Domofocus Bioethanol Suspended Fireplace
Its 1.10-metre body diameter and wide, expressive opening give the fireplace warmth and personality, creating a distinctive sculptural focal point without overwhelming the surrounding interior.
Powered by clean-burning bioethanol, the Domofocus produces a real-flame without smoke, ash or the need for a chimney or externally venting flue. The battery-powered burner also requires no fixed electrical supply, offering exceptional freedom of placement and straightforward installation.
This flexibility makes the Domofocus particularly well suited to apartments, mezzanines and structurally complex interiors where a conventional fireplace may not be practical. The design is also available as a wood-burning or gas fireplace, allowing it to be specified according to the technical and architectural requirements of each project.

FAQ’s
A bioethanol fireplace is a real-flame fire that burns a renewable liquid fuel and does not require a chimney or flue. At Modus, these are specified where architectural flexibility is key and a real flame is desired without structural or technical constraints
Yes, when correctly specified and used. High-quality burners, proper ventilation, and careful integration are essential. At Modus, we only specify proven systems and design them to meet safety and performance requirements.
Bioethanol fires do in fact produce a lot of heat. Due to the fact that they are designed to be used without a chimney/flue system, they burn with 100% efficiency meaning all the heat produced by the fire stays within the space. For this reason it's important to ensure that the housing that the fireplace sits in can manage the heat and that the room of the fireplace is sized correctly for that particular burner to ensure comfort and convenience
Bioethanol fires are designed to burn with fumes emitted harmlessly into the room rather than being extracted via a flue system. As such there can be a noticeable odour when the fire is running. At Modus we only use the most premium quality burners with technology designed to minimise emissions and odour.
No. That’s one of the biggest selling points. Because bioethanol fires are designed to be flueless, it makes them incredibly versatile and easy to incorporate in most situations.
Focus fireplaces are architect-designed, sculptural fireplaces originating from France, known for their suspended and statement forms. At Modus Fireplaces, they are specified as architectural features, combining iconic design with proven engineering
Yes. Focus fireplaces are internationally recognised for their design quality and longevity. When specified correctly, they offer both strong visual impact and reliable performance, making them a considered choice for high-end residential and hospitality projects
Yes. Focus fireplaces can be installed in the UK, provided they are correctly specified to meet local regulations and project requirements. As an exclusive UK partner, Modus ensures each installation is compliant, technically resolved, and fully integrated into the design

Architectural fireplaces, designed without precedent
If you can conceive it, we can deliver it. That is what Modus does best. Working closely with our in-house design team, and in collaboration with Europe's leading manufacturers, we develop fireplaces that respond precisely to the architecture, materiality, and intent of each project. The result is a fireplace tailor-made for its setting, and for no other.
Every element is open to specification, from stone, metal, and finish through to proportion and detailing.
Each fireplace is engineered in close partnership with Europe's leading manufacturers, with structural detailing and combustion performance resolved as part of the design.
We work as an extension of the project team, from concept through to commissioning, so the fireplace sits within the architecture rather than against it.
