A Double-Sided Wood Fireplace with Integrated Log Storage
Modus Fireplaces designed a bespoke double-sided wood-burning fireplace for a Singita lodge, resolved to connect two adjoining spaces while functioning as a considered architectural feature in its own right. The fireplace is flanked by integrated log storage, built into the surround to keep fuel close at hand without disrupting the clean lines of the design.
A glazed viewing panel spans the width of the hearth, positioned to allow uninterrupted sightlines above the flames from either side. Finished in a dark, textural material palette that grounds the piece against the lodge's timber and stone interior, the fireplace was engineered for dual-aspect viewing without compromising performance or heat distribution.
