The Rocket: Bespoke Sculptural Fireplace
The gas burner is recessed into the floor, allowing the flames to rise directly from the base of the installation. Above, a custom-fabricated steel structure extends vertically through the space, reinforcing the height and scale of the original hangar while giving the fireplace its distinctive silhouette.
Clear pyramid-shaped glass panels are incorporated into the steel structure, providing protection around the flame without creating a visually heavy enclosure. The transparent glazing allows light, views and a sense of openness to continue through the room while meeting the technical and safety requirements of the installation.
Every element was developed specifically for the project, from the proportions of the steel structure and glass panels to the recessed burner and supporting technical systems. The completed fireplace is not an adaptation of an existing product, but a unique architectural feature designed around the scale, character and ambition of the space.
